Methane Reduction

Description:
Animal farming, including cow rearing, is responsible for 14.5% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions. Methane from cows is the main source of agricultural emissions, followed by feed production and manure emissions. Here are some ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cow rearing:
- Use corn or legume feeds instead of grass, which produce less methane. You can also try feed additives to reduce belching methane and improve milk production. For dairy cows, you can also try balancing protein with other nutrients in their diet to reduce nitrogen excretion.
- Cover manure storage tanks and use surface covers to reduce emissions. You can also aerate manure to encourage aerobic microbes to grow.
- Select cows that emit less methane.
- Remove barn waste more often, and consider partnering with suppliers to set voluntary reduction targets
